Aillwee Caves

Although one of the oldest in Ireland, Aillwee Cave is still a
fairly recent discovery. Located near Ballyvaughan, Aillwee Cave
is still one of the few caves which has the features of Clare
underground - great caverns, stalactites, subterranean rivers
- and which is easily accessible to the general public.
Aran Islands

On the very edge of Europe, The Aran Islands rich in the language,
culture and heritage of Ireland, unique in its geology and archaeology
and in its long tradition of gentle hospitality. Here is a place
to sense the spirit of Gaelic Ireland, to touch the past, but

Cong (Quiet Man Country)

More than 50 years have passed since Irish-American director John
Ford shot his classic movie The Quiet Man in Ireland. But interest
in the film has never been stronger. Shot on location in the west
of Ireland John Ford’s beloved romantic comedy, The Quiet
Man has been both reviled and celebrated for its larger-than-life
portrayal of the Emerald Isle. Most of the Quiet Man outdoor scenes
were shot in various locations in counties Galway and Mayo - mainly
around the scenic Maam Valley on the shores of Lough Corrib, Ashford
Castle and the nearby village of Cong.
Coole Park

Coole
Park in Gort County Galway is the former home of Lady Gregory - founder and director
of The Abbey Theatre, Ireland's National Theatre, and friend of William Butler
Yeats - poet and fellow director of The Abbey.
Dungaire Castle

Dunguaire Castle is a small 17th century castle on a rocky promontory,
situated just outside the picturesque village of Kinvara on the
shores of Galway Bay. This castle was built 500 years ago in an
inspirational place commanding the shores of the majestic Galway
Bay ~ situated 300 yards outside Kinvara Village. It is famed
in song and story even this day. The castle is 500 years old and
in that time has had a chequered history.
Galway City

Galway city, on the west coast of Ireland, sits on the River Corrib
and is small in comparison with other cities. It is a young and
vibrant place, yet ancient and historic. Although its population
is only about 60,000 it is the fastest growing city in Europe.

Kylemore Abbey

Kylemore Abbey is the home of the Irish Benedictine Nuns. Its
origins date back to Benedict of Nursia who wrote a rule for monks
in the late 5th century. They follow that rule and our foundation
dates from 1665.
Rathbaun Farm

Rathbaun
Farm is situated in a rural area of Southwest County Galway in
Ardrahan. The Connolly family have been farming the 80 acres
of land for over 200 years and Fintan Connolly continues this
tradition today. The main livestock are sheep, with some cows
and horses. Visitors to Rathbaun Farm will become enchanted by
its thatched cottage home, turf fire, stone walls and an array
of animals.

The Burren

The Burren lies south of Galway in County Clare, Ireland. The
name Burren is from the Irish - bhoireann meaning a stony place.
Its formation has lain unspoiled since the ice-age and is composed
of karstic limestone, the largest area of such in western Europe.
It is a place of surprise and delight to botanists, archaeologists
and ecologists alike and occupies an area of approximately 300
sq. kilometres. The area itself is very bleak in appearance with
glacial soil loss at a maximum. However is does have sufficient
soil to grow a wide variety of the most unusual and rarest of
plants, many of them strange bedfellows.
Thoor Ballylee

The tower or castle that Yeats bought was a sixteeneth century
norman castle built by the family de Burgo, or Burke. It consisted
of four floors with one room on each, connected by a spiral stone
stairway built into the seven-foot thickness of the massive outer
wall. Each floor had a window overlooking the river which flowed
alongside. At the top here was a flat roof reached by a final
steep flight of steps from the floor below.
Golf - Bearna Golf Club

Golf and Country Club inaugerated in 1996, is a gender equity
Club with 500 members.The Club's motto -Failte agus Ceol na Fuiseoige
leat- meaning " Welcome, and may lark-song accompany you"
is intended to signal the tranquility and reception which awaits
the visitor on every fairway.
Golf - Galway Bay Golf Club

Galway
Bay Golf & Country Club is laid out on the picturesque Renville
Peninsula, one of the most historic sites in the west of Ireland.
The golf course is literally peppered with historic remains including
the mystical Rathnapours ring fort, an ancient fairy fort and
ruins dating back to the 16th century. Christy O'Connor Jr. carried
out the design of the course with the aim of preserving and highlighting
such ancient sites, high on his agenda.
